An Act of God
Guest Review
A light-hearted bill-of-fare, An Act of God, at the Booth Theatre, proves to be a nice reprieve from the summer heat and humidity of New York City. As fans of Sean Hayes, we could not wait to see this production.
If God should be incarnated in human form, Sean Hayes proves to be an entertaining and caustic "form" in a white flowing robe accompanied by two angels. "God" announces that he's going to reveal an entirely new set of ten commandments while diving into assorted topics such as religious piety and creationism versus science, and topics of the moment such as Donald Trump and the Kardashians.
Hayes' interaction with the audience makes one feel as though they are sitting at the feet of God himself as he picks and pokes at several members of the audience. Overall, the jokes are funny but begin to pale by the end of the show . . . without an intermission. For the Sean Hayes fans or those looking for a cool seat on a warm evening, the evening was entertaining.
